Rare Blackthorn Chips

Blackthorn is an extremely rare cooking wood as this particular species is labour intensive to produce, but at Woodsmith we believe it is well worth the effort. Not only due to the excellent end product but because we believe in supporting as many woodland management processes as possible, and coppicing Blackthorn is a very important one to ensure the health of our ancient British woodlands.

Blackthorn trees produce sloes, which is why you get a distinctive fruity aroma from the smoke when cooking.

At Woodsmith we recommend soaking Blackthorn chips before tossing a handful onto a log or charcoal fire to create a gentle flame.

Blackthorn chips are perfectly suited to the delicate flavours of dairy, poultry and white fish.

Woodsmith Blackthorn Chips come in a handy 1.5kg bag and a handful of chips goes a long way so there are plenty of outdoor cooking experiences to be had from just one bag.

We aim to process all orders within 24 hours. Our courier partner, Parcelforce, will collect from us on weekdays and will deliver to you within 2-4 working days of collection. Parcelforce will send you a notification when they have received your shipment and will notify you when it is en route for delivery. This will also include your tracking number. If you're not home to receive your wood, Parcelforce will contact you to rearrange your delivery.
